Devotees join in the Sydney City2Surf Charity Challenge and star in the Sydney Morning Herald photo gallery.

A record 80,000 people put their best foot forward in today’s race, presented by Westpac and officially the world’s largest run, with more registered participants than any other event.

This year the 14-kilometre Hyde Park to Bondi Beach trek celebrates its 40th staging, thousands pledging donations already worth more than $2.5 million for charity as part of the City2Surf Charity Challenge, with funds donated to Surf Life Saving Australia and the Westpac Rescue Helicopters.
